Gabapentin is commonly prescribed to treat peripheral neuropathic pain syndrome. However, as far as we know, these two cases are the first in which sciatica with gabapentin has been successfully described. Since gabapentin has the potential to prevent central sensitization, prescribing this therapy should be considered early in the course of sciatica.
