A PR card is required if you are a current permanent resident of Canada, intend to travel outside of Canada, or are taking a commercial mode of transportation, such as a plane or train, to get to Canada. People who just received their Permanent Resident Visa will receive their PR cards in the mail at their Canadian addresses after reaching Canada.
