Gabapentin is a type of anticonvulsant (also known as an anti-epileptic medicine) that is used to treat partial seizures and neuropathic pain. Gabapentin use can also be done to treat heat flashes, restless legs syndrome (RLS), and postherpetic neuralgia, in addition to seizures. Long-term treatment is essential in the case of epilepsy.
