Human Metapneumovirus (HMPV) is an emerging respiratory virus that the public is increasingly aware of, causing serious health issues more so in children and the elderly. Emerged as a new pathogen in 2001, the HMPV has rapidly acquired the identity of a common respiratory pathogen, leading to severe cases in high-risk populations. To understand the consequences of HMPV in their health is very important since it can cause chronic health problems especially in children and the elderly. Though the majority of patients recover completely, some of them may suffer from chronic respiratory issues.
